Virus or Outlook 2007 problem, how to tell?

One of our remote users who logs in by VPN is having an issue where Outlook 2007 keeps asking for her password.  Her computer also keeps having an issue when browsing some, but not all websites, getting an error with Adobe Flash 20.  I bring that up because the Outlook password issue seems to have begun at the same time as the Adobe Flash error.

OS is Win7Pro
Outlook 2007 uses a .ost file

We have tried resetting her password.  The problem stops, but then resumes again the next day.

Should I scan for a virus and if so, what should I use?

Sure.  Never hurts.

And you should run a scan with the AV you have installed on the workstation.
Frequent password prompts in Outlook or any other mail client can be a symptom of a POP lock, assuming this account is using POP on several different devices.

If the user file becomes too large, it can easily become corrupted. Make sure you're backing up the offline mail store frequently. Also, you can easily run a program repair from the Office Programs and Features entry.
Since an .OST file was mentioned, I doubt this is a POP account,  It's an Exchange mailbox.

There is no reason to back up an OST.  It is simply a copy of the mailbox that is on the server.  Backing it up would be a waste of time.

You do however, want to back up PST files.

Now back to the issue at hand....

What happens if the user signs in using OWA?  Does she still get the prompts?

Outlook password prompts are usually due to authentication method, certificate issues, or unstable network connections.

What happens to the user's account if she is logged into the network directly and not over VPN?  Do you see the prompts then?

A few things....Exchange 2007 gets the mail from POP3, so no idea if that helps with this question, but since Bradley brought up POP, thought I would clarify that.  Windows POP3 gets the mail, hands to Exhange 2007, then workstations see it.   There are archived emails in .pst file,

Ran the Office Diagnostics and it found nothing wrong.

As for logging into the network directly, she is remote...in another city.  All I know to do is have her VPN.  Is there a way to log directly onto network other than VPN?  As for VPN, shared folders and other stuff work, just having this weird Outlook password issue.

Not sure how to log onto OWA to see if does same thing.

I decided to put her on a different machine.  She is not having the password pop up.

I have the problem machine she was using now on my work desk. When I log on using any user, this machine is popping up the password box.

I ran Malwarebytes and it found nothing wrong.  I did not run it in Safe Mode, just downloaded it and ran it.

What should I do next?  Uninstall and reinstall MS Office 2007, or, do I need to look at some other areas of this machine?

@ScottCha, I have downloaded and run Malwarebytes on two computers and it found nothing.  Now am wondering if I should have downloaded/installed in Safe Mode, then reboot in normal boot mode and then run...or does that not matter with Malwarebytes?

I am not really sure what made it work right, but the last few days it has worked properly.  I'll ping this question again if it start acting up again.
