Help Configuring Quad monitors under Linux. 2X AMD Radeon HD 6450
I need help getting my 4 monitors to work under Linux. I usually like running the generic Debian but I'd figured I would give Linux Mint a try hoping it would detect better and be less work for me. My current setup is:
OS: Linux Mint: 17.3
Graphics: DUAL 1GB AMD RADEON HD 6450 Graphics w/ Single DP/DVI, Full Height
After installation I did have 3 monitors working under the opensource driver "xserver-xorg-video-ati". The performance was bad moving between screens so I installed the proprietary AMD driver "fglrx". After reboot only two of my screens are working which is the same result I got under my Debian install. Performance on the other hand is great.
When working with the Control Center under Display Manager it shows 4 Digital Monitors when expanded but two are grayed out. Detected Displays shows 1 & 2 and a grayed out option "Unknown Display". The two monitors that are working are using the first card. Its like the Control Center doesn't see the second card. CrossFireX is disabled so I know that isn't the issue and I see both card when I run:
Would anyone know what I should try to get the other two displays to work?

gheist,
I tried your solution but it still only presents one GPU in Control Center. The xorg file appears to point to ATI CC for configurations. I have purchased a new NVIDIA GPU that has 4 DP outputs in one card. I'm hoping this will resolve the issue.

Can you post dmesg? Are radeons supplied with enough electricity?

After a lot more research it seems this hardware is hard to get setup with two GPUs. The best solution for me was to buy a new GPU that had better support in the linux world and had everything I needed in one GPU.

Sorry for the delayed response I have been away for the Holidays. Its been about 12 years since I've had a Slackware installation but the last I check it still boots on my old system, very reliable system. I was under the same understanding that Debian no longer relies on the xorg file or it is handled in a different way. I will go through my system now and post the xorg file or attempt to generate one.
