There is probably not a server driver for your Acer machine. I think that would be expected. Try installing VMware Workstation on your Acer computer and running Server 2008 as a virtual machine. That will work for sure.

What do you mean by there is not a server driver. I would assume the Win7 rivers would be the same as the Win2008 drivers. Am I wrong?

Server drivers are usually different than consumer computer drivers. No, I do not think the Windows 7 drivers would work on a Server. Windows workstation often will not install on a real server for the same reason.

It may also be that the server does not even recognize the NIC as one of its valid NIC's.<br />

You can always run the Server in a virtual machine.

Have just installed Windows Server 2008R2 on my Acer Aspire E14 ES1-411-C00K &nbsp;and during the initial configuration task when trying to configure networking it is showing no network adapters detected. The laptop has a network port so I am assuming it has a network adapter also.
