Win10 killing DVD drives

Greetings,

    I have noted that with Win10 my CD/DVD drives have all become unusable.  In device manager I find drivers for my internal BD-DVD drive and an external USB LG CD/DVD drive. Both these drives have been working fine for months.  Now the drivers show a yellow marker of a kind I've never seen before.  When you click on them a window opens with a notation;

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I also have an external USB Samsung CD/DVD drive which normally resides in a drawer.  I have plugged it in and used it with this computer before.  The computer now ignores it.

Focusing on the USB LG CD/DVD:
   ---  In Device Manager I uninstalled the driver. When I plug the drive back in it reappears in Device Manager.  DM still gives the same nasty message. (DM has reinstalled the Microsoft driver 10.0.10240.16384.  If I try to update it I'm told it's the  most current driver)
   ---  In Device Manager I again uninstalled the driver.  I tried running the original LG install disk.  Their installer says it won't install because I don't have that drive.

Thus far my only option is to map a drive letter on my crippled puter to a CD/DVD drive installed in another machine on my house network.

Also check that Windows has the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard, it has a habit of installing generic IDE/SATA drivers where specific drive controllers are needed.  If that is the case you may find that your HDD performance improves also!
