If you do the first half reset, yes. If you do the full reset (more likely to succeed) favourites will remain but passwords and security settings will be reset

IE settings get changed / corrupted which is why Reset often works. I use this to correct IE on client machines.

If SFC ran, you ran it as Admin. It won't run in non-Admin mode.

I have a laptop running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, that cannot download files from Internet Explorer. &nbsp;When I click on a download link, I get the dialogue box that asks what do you want to do, &quot;run. open save&quot; not matter what I choose the download begins then it stops and says the file cannot be downloaded. <br />

&nbsp;I ran SFC /scannow and it said &quot;Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix them, details in CBS.log. &nbsp;I tried to read the log, but do not know what to look for in it. <br />

&nbsp;I also ran KB3092627, <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3092627" rel="ugc">https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3092627</a>. &nbsp;None of this helped. &nbsp;<br />

Chrome does not have this issue, files download fine. &nbsp;<br />

Hello Experts
