Java 8u65 install issue

Have a Win 2008R2 machine that requires to have JAVA 8u65 installed, currently have 8u51 installed. When doing the upgrade I get pass the UAC then all i get is a white box with no java welcome screen. If I x out of the white square it asks if i want to cancel the install. anybody had this issue. I am going to try installing using the .msi. I can uninstall 8u51 and reinstall with no issues.

Java 65 is out of support and discontinued.

Look on java.com for old versions and see if you can find the offline installer (jre-7u65-windows-i586) and install from that. I do not know if it is still available.

Java (Oracle) has come under fire for security breaches, so they are fixing these and discontinuing versions with security holes (for obvious reasons).

I am going to try installing using the .msi.  <-- The download for offline (if you can get it is an EXE file.

By the way, I erred above. 8u65 was dated Oct 2015 is and not out of support. I was thinking of 7u65 above. You should be able to find it at java.com.

It's a permissions issue

Create a folder C:\Temp
Copy the Java installer package to it (JavaSetup8u65.exe)

Open a CMD window in administrator mode
(type "cmd" into the start search bar, then hold down left Shift + Ctrl while pressing the Enter key)

Navigate to the Temp folder with the installer inside it
"C:" & Enter key followed by "CD temp" & Enter key

Then launch the installer by typing JavaSetup8u65.exe and press Enter

This should launch the window with the normal "Welcome to Java" message inside it!

You mean Java installed and no web welcome message?  You need the Java plugin added to IE to get this.

Nothing to do with IE. This trying to get this installed.

Java installation (for me) does not have (that I can recall) Welcome to Java. Just an installation message.

I misunderstood what you had said.

Also, current version is 8u66 and can you try the current version or is it the same error.

I assume you downloaded the 32-bit version.

Thank you for the update. I have seen that screen so often, I overlooked it.

Did you try what MASQ has suggested?

Here is a Java.com Support article on force uninstalling Java 8. It involves registry entries so read it carefully and exercise caution using the registry.

The silent install worked thanks, MASQ.
