Bad WSUS update - how do I correctly remove/uninstall?
Hi all,
Microsoft recently released a bad patch (KB3114409) for Outlook 2010 which causes Outlook to constantly open in safe mode (further details here): http://www.slipstick.com/problems/outlook-starts-safe-mode/
When we noticed this problem we set the approval in WSUS for this patch to "Approved for Removal". This offered up an additional update to our end user PC's and as soon as they shutdown and installed this new additional update, the Outlook problem was fixed.
However, after installing the update and fixing the problem the PC still reports that one update is available and this will not go away. Every time the user "shuts down and installs updates" the update comes back again.
How should I correctly mark this update to ensure that it uninstalls from the PC's where it has already installed, but so that it does not install on any new PC's?
Currently it is marked as 'Approved for Removal', but should I set it as declined? If I set it as declined will it still uninstall on any PC's which may not have shutdown and installed the fix?
