Copy Hyper-v machine.
Hello Experts,
I have to perform SQL restore of a server to another server. I need to have the same configuration so I want to copy the same machine to a different server with different host name. I also do not want to run the sysprep on the production server. Please advise.
Regards.

Have doubt regarding below comment
"copy the vm to the other host.. start it , go to control panel, system and change it there."
When the host will be started, will not it give error like same machine name exist in the domain ?

you can always add a network adapter later or use a local vs an external virtual switch.

When you copy it to a different machine, then that different machine has already a different host name.. or do you mean, you want to change the host name of the copied VM?
Caveat: Just copying and changing the name may violate license terms, when your VM is not completely under volume licenses.
