I have done this in Windows 10 Home with Edge and acrobat DC (15.010.20060) within the hour the system starts notifying me there is an issue and defaults PDFs back to edge and Jpgs and other image formats back to the default windows photo viewer. This just makes me crazy it is an endless cycle. I cannot see a solution anywhere so hoping someone here can help.<br />

You cannot get rid of Edge. Make IE Default (Start, Settings, Default Apps) and just do not use Edge.

so my preference is chrome, when I set default to chrome windows just resets it it happens constantly, it does not keep any of my default settings, any ideas on that?<br />

See if you can set Chrome as default in Windows 10 Default Settings. I use IE myself.

Well this wasn't working for me but I found a possible fix for my registry settings.<br />
I'll let everyone know how it goes, the &nbsp;post had good feedback. It is not from expert exchange so I am not sure if it is okay to post the link here.
