Apple TV - How do I see the Smart TV look?

Hi,
I have an Apple TV.
When I turn it on it shows the "Computer" and "Setup" icons.
I setup the internet access but can not see anything but the 2 icons.
How do I see the Smart TV look?
Thank you,
Bill

I've seen a couple of issues that produce this result:

No internet connectivity or problematic link
just make sure your internet connection is working as expected.
Incorrect iTunes store location
if you live in Canada, make sure your iTunes location in settings is set to Canada.
System time is incorrect
verify the Date & Time on the AppleTV are correct.

Hi Matt, thanks for reply..
Shows I have internet - Network -> shows IP Address, etc, Signal Strength looks good (4 out of 5 dots)
iTunes Location set to United States I'm in Texas
Where is the Date and Time?
I set Time Zone -> Austin (Central)

This was working at home, I am now in Hotel that has HDMI available.
That was probably a need to know.. forgot to mention.

Thanks for your help,
Bill

Ah! Yes that makes a difference, because the hotel network needs to have the MAC address of the AppleTV entered into its whitelist in order to provide it internet access. The reason it is likely showing as "connected" is because it has received an IP address, but hasn't been registered yet - on a laptop you would get the "accept terms and conditions" page before being able to browse, but AppleTV has no browser so this isn't possible.

Do you have a MacBook laptop with you?

Quick answer:
Use personal hotspot on your iPad or iPhone, or use internet connection sharing on your Mac and connect AppleTV to that.

To configure Internet sharing on a Mac:

Connect your MacBook Air/iMac to Hotels ethernet using Ethernet cable. Navigate the process required to connect your computer to Hotel network.
Go to System Preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing.
Change Share your connection from: to Ethernet. (Its allow you to use your MacBook WiFi as a hotspot).
Check the checkbox “To Computer Using: “ Wifi. Choose the WiFi option at the bottom if you want secure WiFi. Change the Network name.
Select the checkbox beside internet sharing and press start.
You should see another icon replace your current WiFi icon on the top right of the screen.
Now setup network on Apple TV to find the Hotspot you created. Restart the Apple TV for changes take the effect.

Well you connect it to the hotel wifi and then connect your apppleTv to that. Not using your mobile data plan.

Sorry, incorrect info. The hotspot idea WOULD use your mobile plan. Bad!
