Before I use it, I would like to try to get Apple to connect without it. I have the printer connected via USB to my Apple AirPort Extreme (I ran out of ethernet connections). Airport Extreme seems to know the printer is there, but just can't connect (see attached photo). printer.png

The link from Carlos is for the generic HP OSX drivers which should be the same as the ones included on OSX in their Software Update bundle .. you can of course install it but based on your extra information I've a feeling the issue is related to using the Airport Extreme and not the HP printer drivers.
If you're running the latest version of OSX .. and OSX is 100% up to date.
Can you plug the printer directly into the Mac first and confirm that it works .. that will confirm that the printer drivers are on OSX and working fine.
The Airport Extreme attempts to SHARE the printer over WiFi using the apple Bonjour protocol .. so your Mac is looking for a Wireless Printer. Have you used the Airport Utility to configure the printer or check how it appears on the Airport Extreme?

All fixed. I had to go to System Preferences, Printers & Scanners, right-click the printer, and select "Reset Printing System." Then, after adding the printer again, it worked. Points to all who helped me....Thanks! Mark
