How to change deleted items folder in Outlook 2016 IMAP Account

I configured a Outlook 2016 client with IMAP account. Outlook is moving deleting items to folder "Trash" However I want them to go to Deleted Items folder.

How do I change that ?

Don't know if it is still the same, but with Outlook 2010 you can set up the "Send" and "Trash" folders to use in the advanced properties of the email account.

By IMAP is your email provider Google?  Gmail?

The provider is not Google. It is Linux based email service.

The point being.  IMAP settings are controlled by the backend.  You can use custom rules to move messages in Outlook but you might be better off using Mozilla Thunderbird for IMAP.

You are getting the default behavior as seen here:
I use Mozilla Thunderbird and Outlook.  I tend to use Thunderbird for IMAP.  I never use POP3.

Thunderbird does the same thing:
This is just the default behavior for Outlook.  If your backend was Exchange you would use Autodiscover or HTTPS/RPC not IMAP.

Brian, Outlook deletes into "Deleted Items" with my IMAP, because I said so. Ergo it works.

In 2010 there is a option to change Sent and Deleted Items folder. However in 2016 I cannot find these options anymore.
Qlemo"Batchelor", Developer and EE Topic AdvisorCommented:
Correct. Starting with Outlook 2013 those folder settings are no longer available :< .

If I read correctly, the "Trash" folder in Outlook is "Deleted Items" on the server. If Outlook created the Trash folder at the IMAP server, it could not find something appropriate. Follow the suggestions in that link then.
