Monitor the process w3wp.exe and write a log if the memory exceed

One of our WSUS server hangs because the w3wp.exe exceed the private memory limit. We think we have this problem:
So now I need to monitor the w3wp.exe. What is the easiest way to create a log or event viewer entry if the private memory exceeds its limit? I know there is way with ProcDump and want to know other methods.
Many thanks in advance.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

i believe there is a setting in the application pool properties to write to the event log.
what i was thinking of is realted to application pool recycling and to write an event when it recycles for any of those reasons. if you wanted to read about this more:
