Colorful vertical streaks appearing on some prints from LaserJet 3700dn
So we are having some print quality issues from this HP LaserJet 3700dn color printer. It is a quite old machine (manufacture date in 2005) that we got out of storage (only for a few months) as we need another high-output color laser for a project.
Anyhow, the problem seems intermittent. I attached a few files to show the output quality (I printed some internal status pages).
There are 2 images, one with the streaking problem and one without. The one without was printed immediately after the problem print and as you can see from the good page, the image quality is perfect: Pin-sharp text, good color gradients, no color bleed-over...ect.
I also attached an image of an internal part that I would like to know the name of. The part is user-removable, the back side which you can't see in the photo holds the waste toner container which looks basically empty. The top part (which is shown in the photo) contains some sort of glossy plastic (like mylar) which rotates. I assume this helps move the paper along across the 4 toner drums. This glossy plastic was full of colorful toner in just the same spots that appear on the problem print. I went ahead and cleaned all the toner off with a soft rag (prior to printing anything). However as you can see, despite this being cleaned first, some print outputs had the streaks. Actually I should mention that it looks like that part is getting dirty again (very faint lines of dry toner where I already just cleaned it away).
I looked at all the (nearly completely full) toner cartridges. The drums, the appear clean (bright green, no dry toner residue on them) as does the entire insides of the unit as a whole.
I used to be a large-format printer / plotter tech so I have experiences fixing those and some of that technology spills over into laser printers and vice versa. Being said you can keep you answers pretty technical and I would appreciate any and all help.
