Have you checked the DNS server logs for the name? Is it resolving to the ip address?

Hi, Yes the DNS entry is pointing to the correct IP address and I see that in the wireshark trace.<br />
Also if I enter <a href="ftp://" rel="ugc nofollow">ftp://</a>&lt;ip address&gt;:24000 it gives me the login prompt for ftp so I know the IP is correct<br />

Hi, many thanks for your reply, i'm off how until Monday so i'll have a look at the link then, however the issue I have isn't resolving the domain to IP which the hosts file would help with.<br />
I can browse to the website via the URL fine so DNS is working, I cant browse to the website via its IP Address.<br />

When you try to connect using just the IP address what do you get?<br />

Are you using Host Headers in IIS? &nbsp;If so this is most likely your problem. &nbsp;Inside a HTTP request there is a HTTP header that has the hostname entered on the URL. &nbsp;When IIS is setup to use host headers (Apache calls this named virtual hosts) IIS looks at the hostname in the HTTP header to see which &quot;site&quot; to display. &nbsp;If it does not have a matching site name, depending on how you have IIS configured you may get the &quot;default&quot; site, you may get nothing, or you may get an error.

Getting a 404 using IP address and having it only work when you use &quot;website name&quot; it indicative of using host header setup. &nbsp; You'll &nbsp;need to make &quot;website name&quot; the default site.

I can confirm the IP address via Ping and a wireshark trace shows its using port 80<br />
The bindings are set to Port 80 and to use all un-assigned IP Addresses although there is only one NIC (ipv4 and ipv6), I have also tried it with the IPv4 address set as well.<br />
There is also a binding for ftp using port 24000, this does work ok using the IP Address.<br />
