Outlook 2007 will not index since last Win 10 update

I noticed the problem when I tried to search for some particular emails and the results would say "none" even though I could plainly see some of them in my inbox.  Above it said it could not display any results because it is indexing the mail.  However it has been hours and it still says it is indexing, but it seems that no items have been indexed as the amount of files to be indexed hasn't changed (2803 files).  I ran scanpst and repaired the pst file and I rebuilt the index.  So far, this doesn't seem to have done anything.  My pst file is not that big, only 2.6 GB.  I went to control panel and told MS Office to repair itself and it came back and said it failed to do so.

All this started after the latest Win 10 updates.  Nor sure what to do at this point.  Suggestions?

My specs if needed are:
CPU: AMD PHENOM II X4 955 3.2GHZ
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 2 WAYS AM3 870 D
GPU: MSI NVIDIA GTX 980Ti 6GB
(2)Samsung 850 Pro 500GB SSD
16GB DDR3 / 1600 MHZ MEMORY
Corsair 800 WATT POWER SUPPLY
CREATIVE LABS AUDIGY SE SOUND CARD
WINDOWS 10 PROFESSIONAL 64-BIT

John thanks for the info.  I will try this and get back to you.

The main reason I have not gone to Office 2016 is the new subscription only policy.  It's outrageous that I can't even buy a standalone program anymore.  Microsoft now has to soak you at $100 per year!  The standalone itself was very expensive and now you have to subscribe??
Thanks and please let us know. Subscription including upgrades is $20 per year. So I find it reasonable in the scheme of things .
Where is the $20 per year?  All I saw from Microsoft was $99 per year for Office 2016.
Sorry . I meant $20 per user per year as you can have the subscription on 5 computers. I have it on 3 computers, so $33 per year for me.
The license covers up to 5 users. So $100 for one user, $50 per year for 2 users, $33 per year for 3 users (me) , $25 for 4 users and $20 for 5 users

Also, I have now got Office 2016 for "free" having originally subscribed to Office 2013.

Overall a good deal if 2 users or more.

I believe, strictly speaking, it's 5 devices in one household on the O365 subscription and for business use it is one subscription per user (with up to 5 devices). It's not great value if like the OP you don't plan on upgrading all that often - but other than that if you have a number of family members or computers sharing the plan it's not too bad.
Back to the original problem, Outlook 2007 can have problems with PST files over 2GB - particularly if they're the Outlook 97-2002 compatibility mode files. Create a new PST file, and set that as default, and then move the items from your old PST file into that. With any luck that should fix the problem.
Before you do that (new pst) see if the reindexing has changed the situation. If not, before you create a new pst, see whether the old one really is in the old format (that has problems when exceeding 2 GB) or not, follow https://support.office.com/en-au/article/Determine-the-Outlook-Data-File-pst-format-7415aae9-ed64-440e-86b2-23830adf37eb
@ArtG2521 - Thanks and I was happy to help.
