DELL Alienware 17R3 - Some apps appear out of resolution, too small letters, tool menu and icons!!

So, I recently purchased this laptop and everything was fine until I started to see applications display in what I only guess to be a very very high resolution cause the menus, text, icons etc... inside the app are so small you need a magnifying glass to see them.
Here is what I have done so far with no success:
- Change resolutions to other than the native one
- Tried adjusting the icon and text sizes via the system and display options in windows 10.
- Went into the properties of each app's executable and checked the "disable display scaling on high DPS settings" and nothing.
- Change the compatibility settings other windows system and checked the "Run As Administrator" and nothing.

The 1st two above only made things worst, icons became too big or it only changed the icons on the desktop and text too. The individual applications didn't experience any changes.

Please any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated since as you can imagine, this is driving me crazy!!!!
Please see the attached images so you have better understating.

trying to fit 3840 x 2160 pixels in 17.3 inches is guaranteed to have small icon's/text. Don't forget you are putting 4x the amount of information into the same space as with a 17.3" 1080p Display. Ergo everything will be 1/4 the size. You could try alternate display resolutions. or User generated image
I can get exact procedure for you later  - however I believe you should have the NVidia Control Panel installed with your graphics adapter, and it should be available by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting "NVidia control panel". My guess is that a scaling feature has been enabled or something to that effect, if you are able to have a look in that area I would bet that your issue is stemming from there - a graphics card setting. Seems like you've adjusted the integrated Windows 10 settings appropriately.

I had interpreted this line to be what David has suggested above. If you haven't done this yet then certainly... this is where you need to look first.

I just purchased an Alienware 17 R3 and I'm having the exact same issue.  I've tried every suggestion that the previous posters mentioned and nothing is working.  The size of the icons and everything else gets larger, but the menus and other programs are still showing up on a way smaller scale than everything else.
The original asker ditched the 4K and went back to 1080p as the display is simply too small.  Remember that a 1080p screen is 1/4 of your 4K screen.
