exchange 2010 out of office not working

Hello,  we are using exchange 2010 and outlook 2010 on the end users, out of office is not working for the end users (server not available or something similar) we think that its related to auto discover or certificate, we need some solution even if it required to low the authentication to the server.

Hi,

How are you trying to set the OOO message? In outlook? Then i would expect a notification while starting up Outlook stating something is wrong with the autodiscover or similair.
What happens if a user would set the OOO message from OWA?

server not available ......    (emails working fine).
Please answer my questions, also... do you use any CAS servers?
already did.... the message is that the server not available, no CAS server
Then I assume the message comes from Outlook, you could try this hotfix on a workstation which has Outlook installed.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2584053
The OOO is actually controlled by EWS (Exchange Web Services). From a client, run the Test Email Auto Config and see what virtual directories the user is getting. I would start there.

I would also check the app logs on the CAS server as well. If this is affecting all users then it is likely not a client side issue and more server side related with Exchange Web services.

this occur to all of our workstation (more then 200), so I guess its a server issue however I will try to run the above.
Another thing you can try is restarting the Exchange and IIS services a long with the IIS app pools for EWS.

However if there is something wrong with EWS you should be able to vary easily see this in the logs as it provides core functionalities for Outlook and Exchange.

I got this error out of office cannot displayed server unavailable
Did you do the ctrl+right click on the outlook icon on bottom right tray and test email autoconfiguration? what does it output?
I got this error out of office cannot displayed server unavailable
As stated this is related to EWS.

@Patrick - I had already mentioned Auto Config.

Will.
autoconfiguration - in outlook cant detect the setting
In your system tray, when outlook is started you have this yellow outlook icon (on the right side). Right click it with control clicked and select test auto config.

@Will, i can read, just explaining what to do to run the test.
From the EMS (Shell) run the following command...
Get-ClientAccessServer | fl *auto*

Check and make sure that "AutoDiscoverServiceInteralUri" is properly configured with the correct FQDN/address.

Another thing you might want to check is your Authentication settings on your virtual directories and also on your Outlook client. Make sure that they match.

Will.
can you please explain where to check the Authentication settings
Open the EMS
Run Each of the commands below...
Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory | fl Name, *auth*

Get-OABVirtualDirectory| fl Name, *auth*

Get-OwaVirtualDirectory| fl Name, *auth*

Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory| fl Name, *auth*

Get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory| fl Name, *auth*

That will show you what authentication each of your virtual directories are set to.

Also in order to check Autodiscover take the URL for Autodiscover and put it into a web broswer you should be prompted for username and password. If it works correctly you should see XML on the web page after your credentials have been accepted. If thats the case then autodiscover is working.

Also check Outlook authentication settings from Account Settings within Outlook to see what the client is using.

I would also recommend using the Microsoft Autodiscover Connectivity Test Tool
https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
