Can I up date windows 8.1 to windows 8.1 pro with out losing anything?<br />

I have a cd &nbsp;windows 8.1 pro with wmc that I bought some time ago that I was going to use on my notebook, but it went bad and I had to buy another one, but I thought it had windows 8.1 pro, but it has only windows 8.1 not pro and wmc will only work on pro.<br />
I am not sure I want to do it if I am going to lose information or data.<br />
