Updating from windows 8.1 to windows 8.1 pro

Can I up date windows 8.1 to windows 8.1 pro with out losing anything?

I have a cd  windows 8.1 pro with wmc that I bought some time ago that I was going to use on my notebook, but it went bad and I had to buy another one, but I thought it had windows 8.1 pro, but it has only windows 8.1 not pro and wmc will only work on pro.
I am not sure I want to do it if I am going to lose information or data.

I don't like windows 10

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Go to Windows Upgrade in Computer  -> Properties and upgrade from there. That should work. There is a fee to be paid as well.

Windows 10 is based on Windows 8.1 and is an evolution. I am using it having upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro.

You need to be at Pro to get Windows 10 Pro.

What do you not like? All is there and all works.
