How do I update the iOS on my iPad 2

I want to update the iOS on my iPad 2 to iOS 8.  How do I go about doing this?

That usually is more or less automatic. If an update is available for your device it'll show up as such and you only need to accept it.

check your current IOS installed version
setting>general>about>verison

if its up to date, so you cannot simply downgrade it by click / tapping anywhere on your iPAD.
please follow the instructions and do it at your own risk..

Hello, mainrotor,

If you're looking to update only to ios 8 instead of 9, you will need to download the IPSW firmware file, and update from iTunes.

There are people unhappy with upgrading an iPad 2 to iOS 8.

OP may just be looking at iOS v8 to jailbreak, given that very recently (October 2015), the US Government made jailbreaking tablets and smart televisions no longer illegal.
