Can anyone provide some examples where a user would require Full control over a folder? Which NTFS permission allows them to delete a file? I cant see why basic users would need Full control over files/folders, as long as they have permission to create/edit/delete, - what purposes would full ever be required?

Full Control NTFS permission simply provides the additional privilege of being able to Take Ownership. and change permissions. The "Modify" privilege allows everything a regular user requires, they just cant assume ownership of a file or directory.
