I have several computers set up with AD users with restrictions but I need these users to be able to menage Think Vantage Access Connections. Is there a way without give them admin access?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

as ThinkVantage Access Connections application is aim to help users quickly switch the network settings and Internet settings by selecting a location profile, it does need some priviliges from the current domain user. to enable this, you can use below procedure to configure some restrictions on network connections by using Group Policy.

Configure network connection restrictions with Group Policy
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732613(v=ws.10).aspx

these settings are all found in the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) at the following location:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Network Connections

This may be one possible means shared in forum. Specifically, we can use Group Policy "Administrative Templates" for "Lenovo ThinkVantage Components/Access Connections" to enable user access even though theg are not admin e.g. One setting is "Allow Windows users without administrator privileges to create and apply WLAN location profiles ..."

Thank you so very much for this link to Lenovo. I did not find anything myself. I will have a look and then Accept as solution (if it works of course) :)

the first solution didn't seem to work. The second solution is too much. Why is it so difficult to get this working. Its just a simple thing letting domain users create new network connections.

it is because of the privileges and safeguarding it from other user. also it is not a MS owned appl and third party instead. it will apply even if it is other vendor appl like other browser used. The setting is one-off and using gpo can be pushed out to domain joined machine. it is a balance

I'm working on it. Relax!!

I did both Bing CISM / CISSP solution and Access Connections Administration tools and deployment guide and now it seems to be working. Don't know if both solutions are needed but i think the last option was necessary.
