WinSCP sounds like the best solution in your case because:

- it's free!
- great documentation
- big user base (for questions etc)
- scripting (for your syncing, and hence easy to schedule)
- synchronize is a command, you don't have to implement anything except choose the correct mode/parameters

The only thing missing is the email notification. But since the executable returns error code, you just run all this inside a batch file and add simple code to send emails when the error code is NOT 0 (then use another command or program to send out the email).

I use Filezilla and WinSCP, depending in features needed.

Both have lots of functionality and user base.

Flashfxp is very easy to use.  It does everything I need without any scripting.  The only thing is I cannot use custom rules to sync.  It does have that function but it just not letting me to use it.  Looks like a bug to me.  Already contact techsupport and waiting for reply.  Other than that.  It is a great program.

The program works beautifully.  Probably the easiest to use and most powerful.

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud). "Restore" in turn means the methods and processes involved in data recovery, i. e., bringing back copied computer data to their original location. Backup/Restore primarily serves as a means of protection against data loss, be it due to disaster, corruption or sabotage. It can also be used for recovering data from an earlier point in time and even for cloning machines or applications. There is a wide variety of backup/restore software available, from expensive commercial products to free or open source tools.
