Touch option stopped after upgrade

I have a new Microsoft Surface Book: While setting it up the touch screen was working, I used it to make all my selections! Once setup was complete the touchscreen stopped working; I think the OS updated at that point.

I went to Control Panel/Hardware and sound/Pen and Touch and clicked the Touch tab.  The settings all looked correct and the Apply option was greyed out.  The options not greyed out were OK or Cancel.

How do I get the touch option back?

That was it.  After I posted this I got an error message having something to do with drivers that went away before I could register it.  It went away because windows went into update mode and when it was finished the touch screen, and the pen, were working normally.
