What happens to my slave drive if I re-install Windows 7 ?

I have a working PC with slave drive, works fine but I want to re-install the OS and wipe the C:\ drive. What will happen to the slave drive ? Will it be recognized after the install ? Should I detach it and re-attach later after the OS is re-installed ?

This is an HP desktop, Model a6600f,
Windows 7 Enterprise, previous W 7 Ultimate, upgraded from Vista Home Premium, SP 2
Processor Intel Pentium Dual CPU E220 @ 2.2Ghz
4.0 GM RAM
