i would test the printer on another system - to be sure it is a printer problem or not<br />
another option is to update the printer software<br />

If the test pages print incorrectly, cleaning the printheads (several times if necessary) is the thing to do. If that does not fix it, most likely you need to replace the printheads. In HP printers they are part of the cartridges, so you need to replace those<br />
<br />
However, it would be a good idea if you could post scans of the test prints, so we can check that the problem is indeed with the heads.

ag1iffit, if the printer is still under warranty, get HP to repair or replace it. Otherwise, it's cheaper to buy a new printer. But, please still post those pages.
