Printer colours not printing correctly

HP Photosmart 3210 printer works well in all respects accept the colours other then black.  A print colour calibration sometimes works and print report also passes sometimes, but most times the colours are incorrect, messy or partially missing.

I've tried cleaning the heads, cleaning the contacts as the manual instructions state but no joy.

Can anything be done?

i would test the printer on another system - to be sure it is a printer problem or not
another option is to update the printer software

If the test pages print incorrectly, cleaning the printheads (several times if necessary) is the thing to do. If that does not fix it, most likely you need to replace the printheads. In HP printers they are part of the cartridges, so you need to replace those

However, it would be a good idea if you could post scans of the test prints, so we can check that the problem is indeed with the heads.

Thanks Jackie - I was not aware of the new cartridges.

ag1iffit, if the printer is still under warranty, get HP to repair or replace it. Otherwise, it's cheaper to buy a new printer. But, please still post those pages.

You are welcome.

Just look around in the customer reviews in Amazon and it is a common problem regarding the mixed colors.
