After testing this on a Win 7 machine and getting it working, I think I'm right on my theory about seeing it in the device manager as Cisco Serial. I wonder if there is a different driver for 8.1 as opposed to 7?

I'm trying to console onto my ASA 5506 from my Surface running Windows 8.1 pro. The driver is installed, I get a COM port assigned when I plug in the other end of the cable but it gives me an &quot;Unable to open serial port&quot; error.<br />

I've tried:<br />
