uninstall windows 10

I need to know if there is anyway to uninstall windows 10 (which was installed from a cd and not a upgrade). The user had vista on it. He needs to go back to vista. The windows.old folder is still there. He has programs that will not work with windows 10.

1. You can't install Windows 10 from a CD, there isn't enough capacity on a CD for Windows 10. He would have had to install from a DVD...

2. Vista can't be upgraded to Windows 10 directly. You would have had to first upgrade to Windows 7, and then to Windows 10. This means you can't go back to Vista by "uninstalling" Windows 10. Besides that, on the free upgrade offers for Windows 10, you are only able to return to the previous OS (Windows 7 or 8.1) during a period of 30 days after the upgrade, so if your client has passed that period you also wouldn't be able to go back to the Windows 7 or 8.1 after that.

Your only option is to restore the last backup of Vista he made before installing Windows 10, or do a clean install of Vista, or use the HD's recovery partition or recovery media to return the PC to it's factory defaults.

I haven't tried, but I guess you'll even be able to restore vista, since windows.old should hold everything we need. Take this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/933168 it shows something similar: returning to another version of vista after vista has been installed over it.
You need to restore the bootloader as well, it is described there in, too.

The only reason to uninstall Windows 10 to return to Vista is if Windows 10 does not work on that machine.

Does Windows 10 work on the machine?   or does it not work?

As said above, there was never a path from Vista to Windows 10 and there is no return except back up and fresh install.

Vista now has less than 2% market share and has been orphaned. If you can, move on to something more current.
Backup the windows old folder all his files are still there.
