Cannot Install Windows Embedded Standard 7 on HP Thin Client
Experts, please advise!
We need to install WES7 (Windows Embedded Standard 7) for a POS environment on an HP Thin Client.
We have four HP Thin Client t520 models, pre-loaded with the HP Thin Pro operating system.
We have just been informed by our third party POS support that we will need WES7 for other hard/software compatibility purposes.
Thus, the device does not have WES7 pre-loaded.
Now, we need to backtrack and get these units loaded with WES7 -- which is proving to be a hurdle.
I've downloaded a trial version of WES7 x86 (matching the hardware specs for the Thin Client) and am encountering an error regarding drivers needed to begin the installation process. We are able to boot the .iso and get to the standard Windows installation page but soon encounter an error regarding drivers. There's no specification of which driver is prohibiting the install from proceeding.
Is it possible to install WES7 on an HP Thin Client hardware. As you can tell, we are new to this "Thin Client" environment and hardware. Microsoft doesn't clearly answer how to get this WES7 onto said devices without ordering WES7 pre-loaded/OEM.

Then HP should be willing to assist you... unless HP doesn't authorize it's resellers to modify the OS on the drive. But then you should have a decent relationship that they would exchange the equipment.
so first question is does this HP unit support Win7
we have had some that only went to XP
and others that supported Win7
it is possible to refresh or update
their was a piece of software - often from the vendor - but also 3rd party
that allowed us to 'package the OS' for use on the thin client
and then we installed via USB
so which units are we dealing with - what did they come with and when were they purchased

We were informed by HP that the Thin Clients will have to be returned for already installed or hardware/motherboard embedded iterations.
