Skype for Business Meeting video freezing

Hi,
We have an issue where using Skype for Business in an online meeting, the video freezes, and updates a couple of times a minute. In a peer to peer call the video is fine. Both conferences take place on our internal network.

Is there a difference in the video codec used in an online meeting and in a peer to peer call?

The codecs are the same no matter the application unless an application specifically requires special codec. Skype should work fine no matter peer to peer or online meeting. I can only think of two situation whereby your skype is failing, slow internet or corrupt installation. I would recommend reinstalling the latest Skype application, and then testing the conference call. Also ensure you have access to good internet speeds while doing the call.

On the connectivity tests there are  a number of tools that you can run the article HERE will point you to a number of Tools for testing, review the Network tools section 1/2 way down.

Of course this is only related to 365 and may not be relevant if using a local Skype for Business server

Hi, thanks for your reply. Internet access is quick, and stable, with available bandwidth, although, as I said, both P2P and Online conferences do take place between my two test laptops on the same switch within our network. In both cases I see a TCP 5061 session to out front end server.

Just noticed that when I disabled the option for "crop and centre my video in meetings", that the online meeting video quality is improved, although still very very jerky. Could this point to something between H.264 SVC and H.264 AVC?
Hi,
Thank you both. I should perhaps clarify my terminology. when I say Online meeting, I don't mean one hosted on the internet, I mean one booked though our local Lync servers. the conference's traffic, as far as I know, does not leave our LAN.

I've looked at the host bandwidth, port and settings, and found nothing out of place...also tried with 720 and 1080p web cams.
