I have just rebuilt my system with a clean install of Windows 10 and Office 365 (2016). I have several email accounts defined in Outlook, including Gmail (Imap), MSN, Outlook.com and a roadrunner account. Before I did the reinstall, mail would open to my Gmail (Imap) inbox. Now it opens to the Outlook.com inbox.
I believe the determining factor for which inbox is the default is determined by which account is the default in the data tab of Outlook's Account Settings. When I try to set the default to Gmail, it says you cannot set the default to a non-standard OST or PST file. Yet, the Gmail data file seems to be an OST file (....\Outlook\[my-email-name]@gmail.com.ost).
My previous system (before the clean install) started with Windows 7, then was upgraded to Windows 8.1 then upgraded to Windows 10, and Office 2010 was upgraded to Office 2013 then upgraded to Office 2016. Is it possible that the earlier versions allowed this and it carried forward but is now not possible, or have I missed something trying to set it up?
Thanks very much.
Stan
