we're not using smartcards
the problem started on 1/31/16. Looking at certificates on the server, there was a self signed cert I saw that expired 1/31/16. I wound up rekeying a godaddy cert on the server and running the fix my network wizard. the wizard didn't say anything about an expired cert. but now there's no 1/31/16 cert expirations.

message persists / they can't get to the share that uses the different credentials stored in shadowprotect. they CAN get to all the usual shares.
