Unable to add IIS role service in win2k8 server

In Win 2008 R2 server with IIS7,  I am unable to add  the role service (under the role WebService in Windows server manager)   IIS6 Metabase compatibility  .

My account has admin privileges in  the server. I am able to install other softwares, I can add other role services also .

( After googling  on the error , I tried to change security settings of  IIS Folder (I think, inetsrv folder  ) under c:\windows\system32.  But I could not, Not sure the issue is related to this)

Attached is the  Server Log and the Error message combined in one snapshot

Thanks

I would verify the following:

1. that the .NET 3.5 Framework is installed on the server
2. that the server has a good connection to the Internet

Then try the install using the alternate install path option during the add feature process.  It could be that the feature cannot be found in the WinSxS directory, so trying it from the OS install media may resolve the issue.

The 3.5 framework is installed .  Not sure what is the significance of internet

One of the think to point out is - I have a website created  and  I was trying to  add role service  after that . Does it matter ?

Experts, Is there other possibilities you can bring forward. Your help is much appeciated
