asked on

post instead of URL parameter

I currently have a page that passes a URL parameter from a table that has many results, it passes the ID of such result to the details page.  Unfortunately the ID shows on the URL and my client requires for me to not show any IDs on the URL
He told me I should use the post method, I understand that when using a form, but how can I pass a parameter from a data table with many results to the details page using 'post' method ?

I am using ASP classic

<a href="details.asp?caseid=<%=(rs_cases.Fields.Item("id").Value)%>" class="btn btn-white btn-sm"><i class="fa fa-folder" ></i></a>

I need to pass the ID without passing it in the URL

that a user will change the ID and see a record they are not supposed to see.
I want to avoid creating a session variable which is the only thing I can think of. I am also trying to avoid URL re-write.

We are looking into URL rewrite as an option to hide the URL parameters.

Active Server Pages (ASP) is Microsoft’s first server-side engine for dynamic web pages. ASP’s support of the Component Object Model (COM) enables it to access and use compiled libraries such as DLLs. It has been superseded by ASP.NET, but will be supported by Internet Information Services (IIS) through at least 2022.
