Word hangs are very difficult to diagnose, especially in the absence of the document. <br />

It may be that the document is corrupt. Try saving it in a different format (e.g. RTF), then close it and reopen the new file. This process forces Word to rebuild the document and can sometimes fix this sort of error. If it works you can resave the file in Word document format.<br />

Determined the flaw.<br />
The issue is in the GL Match Fields area.<br />
Where trying to get this (Dear First and First,) the problem is in Not using the first cell where identifying &quot;Salutation&quot; in the first cell of that section. <br />
What was happening in the effort to keep the labels correct on the page the first cell (courtesy title) was set to Not Matched and the second cell to SALUTATION. <br />
Seems the issue is that the first Cell needed to be set to other than Not Matched.<br />
When set to Salutation the desired result occurred w/o freezing Word. (Dear First and First,)

Update.<br />
Informed by client that this process (original method) worked w/o issue.<br />
Only change I'm aware of is MS Office or other updates.<br />
I manage the computers and replicated the original failure / freeze on 2 other systems (W7, Office 2010).<br />
Above workaround does not space correctly on the page but is better than freezing Word and causing Manual merge.
