Windows 10 running as VM on HYPERV server - what is the license requirement ,
I have Host server running MS Server 2012 Standard with HYPERV services on it.
I want to run several Virtual Machines with Win 10 Pro as OS (or Win 7 Pro)
They will be accessesed through RDP by several employees from Thin Clients or old Win XP desktops using RDP client software.
I already have proper amount of Windows Server CAL's, as well as Office 365 ProPlus licenses.
What license do I have to purchase for the Windows 10 Pro OS as that runs as VM?

Sorry for abandoning this - I was on business trip.
David Johnson, CD, MVP -
In my case I have 2 scenarios:
1 - the user connects from PC running Windows XP Pro that is turned to what I call "KIOSK" using Windows SteadyState (it basically locks down the PC allowing only to run windows native RDP Client)
2 - User connects from workstation with Win 7 Pro (or 8 Pro or 10 Pro) using windows native RDP client.
So each of those users connects from PCs with windows OS already on them.
I understand that I need to purchase full Windows license for each user that connects to VM? Is that correct?

If this is still the question, then imo the best answer is to make one VM an RDS server. It will offer the users the same kernel as the version of server. That is: Server 2008 Rx RDS users get Windows 7. Server 2012 R2 RDS users get Windows 8. I suspect we won't see RDS = Windows 10 until the next version of Server is released. For this you will need RDS CALs and Windows Server CALs for each user on the RDS server.

Nevertheless I am still confused on what license to use in my scenario - if you know which license should I use - then please share your knowledge.
