Sage Act! - (on Server) both services stopping every 24 hours
Hello experts!
We have a server running win sbs 2011 with Sage Act Installed (server is a VM on ESX but I don't think that should matter)
ISSUE - Both the sage Act services seem to be stopping every 24 hours. We can manually restart them but it's not ideal.
We wanted to run a BAT file to start the services every day at 08:00 to ensure they were up for the users each day, which we then look into a more long term solution.
We have excluded the ACT folder from the AV scanner. They have BackupAssit for local (to EXT HDD) backup and Carbonite for online backup.
First Question - We can't seem to get a batch file to restart the services, I think it;s due to the service names having "." (full stops) in the name
We tried:
NET STOP Act.Server.Host
NET START Act.Server.Host
Also tried this - Results in the attached image.
taskkill /im Act.Server.Host.exe /f
"C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Web\Act.Server.Host.exe"

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your response.
OS is Win SBS 2011
Services that are stopping are:
ACT! Service Host
("C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Web\Act.Server.Host.exe")
ACT! Smart Task Service Host
("C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Web\Act.Server.Host.exe")
Just waiting for it to happen again then I'll get something out of the Win Logs, they were cleared yesterday so empty right now.
They have 7 databases setup, I did read somewhere this is not the correct way to do it, one database should be enough then you section the data up by adding records to a specific group....?
I'll also try excluding the ACT! folder from the backup (just for tonight, as a test). Although I'm sure the last time the services stopped it was around 06:20am.
Leigh

Yes, normally one database is better ... but that shouldn't be an issue for this.
Post back with the event log details when you have them

Thanks Mike. Will do.
Are you still having an issue with this?

It looks like the backup software is kicking it out when it performs it's VSS.
We're still looking into it.
Appreciate the follow up.

What Windows Operating System?
You say "both services" - What's the other service that's stopping?
Is there anything in the event log from when it stops?
