publishing lync 2013 edge

hello guys,
i hope everything is going well, i've lync server 2013 and it's working also i've lync edge and it has 2 nic (external/internal) if i need to publish it behind firewall (fortigate) and in this case i'll disable the external nic (has public IP) so does it make any effects in performance or service?

many thanks for help

In order to publish Lync services you will need 2 Nics on the edge and one must be public or Dmz.. it is recommended to use DMZ for security purposes and no the performance wont be affected at all.

You can check my website here i have an article about how to deploy edge on Skype for bysinesss... it is exactly the same steps for lync 2013 and 2010

hello mohamed,
sorry to be late nut i just need to emphasis on one thing that all i need to change only the external ip to be private that will be the direct interface to the firewall is that all i need or just need to change other configuration in lync itself?

thanks a lot for help

Yes on your Lync topology in the edge config part you need to make sure you dont enter any public IP except for the AV NAT..
