Notebook Graphics performance.
Hi,
I am looking to buy a Dell Inpiron I5 5000 Notebook running Windows 10 and are looking at the various graphics options which are:
HD Graphics 520
AMD Radeon™ R5 M335 2GB DDR3
Intel® HD Graphics 510
Now my use is for photo editing and playing video. I realize photo editing does not take much power. I suspect
playing video does take more grunt. Does it take any extra to drive an external monitor as well?
Are all of these up to the task or could some of them stuggle?
Also should I be concerened with heat they might produce? And have a negative impact on notebook life - on the assumption that too much heat can give a problem to hard drives.
I might be wrong on some of these views - so please feel free to correct me :)
So looking for advice and opnions.
Thanks,
Ward.

check this "bench" - they dont differ much:

i would not spend any extra dollar for the radeon - both are low end graphics but your needs are also lowend
go for the intel built in hd520 its good for your needs

Your on board graphics is good enough, what most people hype about the human eye cannot see anyways. What you will need for editing photos and playing videos is RAM lots of it.
I edit photos on my laptop that has 4gb of ddr3, and 256 Nvidia on board graphics card none of clients complained about their photo, if you're like me watching a video while editing then you're going to need more ram, 8 to 16 should suffice do not worry about heat, if it was a desktop you'd have the same problem, heat destroy things. So have goo back up and replace your hard disk every 3-5 yrs depending on how heavy you use it.

Modern notebooks should also not have problems with heat, they are built in such a way that even when running at the limits they should still be OK. Important of course is that you keep the vents free, and occasionally clean out any dust accumulating in the vents area.
