Which may get interesting if there is no . in a name. 
I would be more concerned on the fact that you are asking to resolve a name 4 times which due to the nature of DNS may or may not return the same information on each call....

I didn't code that and it's a little too messy because it has two modules as I recall. &nbsp;Can you post the appropriate syntax for getting the hostname and for getting the ip from the hostname?

(off the top of my head, i didn't download the sheet again to actualy read them) 
See Sheet 1..... Those are the basic calls... Sheet 2 appearantly attempts to dynamicaly translate from an address OR name. 
If the first character is a digit it does use GETIPADDRESS() and otherwise is does some not so clever magic by calling GETHOSTNAME() 4 times in total, 3 times to get a length and a 4th time to handle the value.... 
The 3 times to get various lengths/offsets might get different values from the 4th time... 
All the lefts, rights &amp;&nbsp;index calls are used to strip the first part... So remove all those and just leave a gethostname().

thanks for the video. it looks like you have 64bit version of microsoft office. &nbsp;the code and most of the VBA codes are intended to be used for 32bit version of office. &nbsp;i am afraid this code only works in 32 bit version not 64bit. 
 
there is some workaround requires to make new declarations to make this work in 64bit, however i personally would not recommend using 64 bit office, becuase of the codes in net and add-ins are written based on 32 bit. &nbsp;i personally would not go for 64bit unless i am dealing with really heavy spreadsheets with millions of rows.

The Visualbasic stuff uses 32bit libraries so it should not come as a surprise, that it doesn't work on a 64bit system without 32bit support (various libraries) &amp;&nbsp;tools available. I have no Windows systems so i cannot check or test what is needed to solve that.

Noci, Your syntax for A5 does not work with Jim's code as the only module in post ID #41472359. &nbsp;If I use Jim's module code and your syntax for A5. &nbsp;If you don't have excel that you can test with, then your solution is likely to be wrong.

It's B5, (of Sheet 2), A5 contains the IP address OR Hostname. 
So obviously if you paste the formula in CELL A5, it will self reference and cause an error. 
You can use it in the original Spreadsheet.... 
 
And what are d you mean with modules?... &nbsp;Modules are a Visual basic thing, keep the original, nothing wrong with them AFAICT. (They did work in the original). The Sheet formulas are striping part of the values. 
Again: Use the original Sheet, on a 32bit Excel and paste the new formula in 
Sheet2.Cell(B5). 
Or any cell other than A5..., update A5 to different values and the field you pasted the formula in should update.
