VMware P2V using cold clone method with vcenter converter

hello,

Its been a while since I P2V a machine. I was in the process of P2V'ing a machine to my new Hp DL360 g9 running ESXi 6

However, I am doing some research and see that the cold clone iso's aren't available.

Is there a reason why VMware stopped supporting this? Is there a new best practice?

I always thought that even if you disable important service for the P2V using a "HOT" clone, there is other activity and your are more prone to issues versus a cold clone.

Can someone please advise as to why I shouldn't perform a cold clone versus a hot clone?

thanks in advance
