Uninstalling Java 8 from OS X El Captain version 10.11.13

Hi Folks,

I have a mac and I lately upgraded the OS to OS X El Captain version 10.11.13 and my eclipse stopped working. I was supposed to install Java 6 but without knowing properly I stalled Java 8 and I stuck now.  I already used the following command to remove the Java 1.8JDK.

sudo rm -rf jdk1.8.0_25.jdk

But when I try to install the JavaForOSX2014-001.dmg. I still doesnt let me install as it warns there is already a higher version of java that exists. Please suggest.

Regards
Kalyan.

I have already run that command, but it still says there is a higher version of java in the system.

There were two different versions of the terminal command. Did you try both? Also did you search afterwards for the plug in to make sure it was gone?

Oracle also recommends you run this command:
sudo rm -fr /Library/PreferencePanes/JavaControlPanel.prefpane
