asked on

downloading large amount of ESXi network drivers

Hi, I was looking to upgrade my ESXi ISO and add a bunch of network controller drivers to it.  I know I can go to each venders website to download the files then use my ESXi-Customizer to inject it to the ISO file.  But I was wondering if there was a large wad of drivers I could download and import them in one fail swoop.

Thanks all.  If there isn't I'm OK with that, just checking.

There was a repository at one time, but it's been abandoned, because most just prepare an ESXi ISO for their whitebox, if you particular server is not on the HCL, there is no requirement to add drivers to it, or you are using the OEM version provided by your Server Vendor.

Thanks Andrew, actually I have a laptop I was using to take to sites to image them directly to the ESXi that was loaded on the laptop for convenience.  I have a licence for version 5.0, but that version doesn't have the nic driver loaded on it.  I used version 6 (trial) that worked (newer drivers I'm guessing).  The laptop vendor doesn't have ESXi drivers on their site for this device.

VMware, a software company founded in 1998, was one of the first commercially successful companies to offer x86 virtualization. The storage company EMC purchased VMware in 1994. Dell Technologies acquired EMC in 2016. VMware’s parent company is now Dell Technologies. VMware has many software products that run on desktops, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS, which allows the virtualizing of the x86 architecture. Its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the server hardware and does not require an additional underlying operating system.
