Log In Credentials in Outlook 2010
I have been having this issue for quite some time now but every now and again the user keeps getting asked to re-enter the password whilst in Outlook 2010. There is no real pattern in terms of time scales it just seems to be random.
please can anyone help

This can happen when cached credentials expire and/or a password expires due to age. It shouldn't happen very often, but if you have a policy that forces passwords to change often, or if you have a policy that restricts how long credentials are cached, you might see this behavior.

Hi Paul
We have already tried un-ticking the "cached exchange mode" and we have several hundred users all with the same password policy and this particular user is the only one having issues.

is it happening on all mailboxes? if only some users, try this
1. Go to Control Panel ==> User Accounts ==> Manage your credentials
2. Under Generic Credentials you will see your Outlook Saved Password. My belief is the password saved in this area is invalid. Remove the saved password and log on to Outlook.
3. When I looked at User Accounts, Credentials, she had 6-8 ID's up under Generic Accounts all of them Outlook. I deleted all of them, which will force it to use the domain logon account. So far it appears to have worked.

"... this particular user is the only one having issues."
Is this user due to update his password, but hasn't?

You can also verify how Outlook authenticates and also, there is a check box there where user can choose to always authenticate.
