NEC Aspire phone programming
We have these NEC Aspire phones and I'm trying to assign certain 4-digit extensions to the function keys (I'm trying to do it manually, on the phone itself - I cannot do it through a web interface). Anyone know how to do that? I've looked over many manuals online but they explain how to program it with 2-digit and 3-digit numbers. I tried on my own to program 4-digit numbers for the function keys but it's not taking it. I know it can be done.

Have you tried it this way?
  1. Press the "Call 1," then press "851," then press the "Function" key that you want to program the extension number to.
  2. Press the "Ext." key, then enter the extension number into the phone keypad.
  3. Press the "Check" button, then press the "Function" key that you are programming. You will see the extension number display on the phone's LED screen.

Hi.
There is no "Ext" key.
It has the following keys: MSG, FLASH, CONF, DIAL, LND, MIC, SPK, CALL1, CALL2, DND, Hold, Check, Clear.

Where are you getting the information that this can be done? I have been doing some research and it looks like all the Aspire phones I have looked at can only support 2 0r 3 digit extensions.

All our NEC Aspire phones currently have 4-digit extensions and that 4-digit extension is visible on the LCD display of each phone. Also, when we log into the web interface for the phone system we can configure them with 4-digit extensions; I've done it numerous times before through the web interface. Therefore I was under the assumption that if we try to configure them manually (directly on the phones) we should be still able to configure 4-digit extensions, but now I'm not so sure.
