As mentioned I even reinstalled the OS clean twice. The issue is it does not even bark at me that the driver is unsigned so I get no chance to even ignore the prompt because there is no prompt no matter how I do it.

I get the feeling it has somehow something to do with the chipset drivers as it worked on a another computer. The mobo is a gigabyte GA-Z68a-d3-b3 its an older board.

It works fine via another input right now and yes that is what a I am doing just now installing it on another system, will report back in a min.

Maybe its worth mentioning that I managed to force and install by disabling driver signature enforcement but even so it installed the sound was a digital distortion nothing else so it seems Windows is protecting this from something rightly so. The only logical explanation I have is incompatibility with the motherboard. But again its just a USB card and works on everything else, is there something in the BIOS that may be worth disabling? Anything else I might overlooking? Thanks

the key is if the E5 drivers you have supports the 64-bit Windows that on the new computer. your drivers must be 64-bit and compatible with W7 and W10.

Bing yes that would be the first thing to do in any case. I kindly ask you guys to understand I have done the basic troubleshooting and much more as I am a seasoned tech myself and when I come here that means something is seriously wrong and is no walk in the park to resolve, many thanks for understanding.

Lets make this a little easier to follow:<br />

- It works perfectly on any other system using the same OS and same driver.<br />
- I can do a forced installation by disabling driver signature enforcement which will install the driver but the card won't function and after a reboot it will fail again so Windows is not installing the driver as it must be conflicting with something. (please note it does it on a fresh clean Windows install on this system so its not another software or AV etc...)<br />
- In conclusion it must have something to do with with either the chipset of this system or its drivers or the BIOS. And yes I have downloaded the latest form the Gigabyte website.<br />

Now in light of all this I believe the right things to do would be analyzing install log files asking about BIOS etc...<br />

This problem system consists of:<br />

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3-B3<br />
RAM: 8GB DDR3<br />
CPU: i7 2600K<br />
SSD 120GB<br />
HDD: 500GB<br />
GPU: Geforce 210<br />
Current OS freash install of Win10 64Bit with latest updates.<br />
All drivers are the latest and there is nothings else installed.

Only suggesting because I had something similar with an external USB M-Audio box a couple of years ago, can you check if the MoBo's integrated Realtek HD audio is enabled and that you have AC'97 audio available before the SB box is added? - I.e.you're getting audio out through the motherboard correctly first using the motherboard drivers and Realtek utility that comes with it. &nbsp;A &quot;code 18&quot; error with an external audio device can also mean that it Windows can't equate HD audio ability of the base system with the newly connected hardware and unless the HD driver is installed first Windows doesn't think the machine is HD capable.<br />

Somewhere in sound card's specification it writes USB HighSpeed aka USB 2.0 is recommended. Can you try disabling usb 3.0 for one boot to try out?

Masq, yes the on-board audio is working and also tried disabling it.<br />

OK got it working. I can't tell exactly what made it work but what I've done was plugged it into another USB 2 port which I haven't tried yet it picked it up immediately/installed it and just to be sure reinstalled the chipset drivers before testing and it worked. I've seen this before, for some reason it only works with a specific USB port go figure.

The drivers were installed previously I just reinstalled them just case. Its a faulty &nbsp;motherboard it stopped working again and this time the keyboard as well plug them into different ports they work than stop again. Definitely faulty USB controller. &nbsp;T

For your future information, &quot;USB hubs&quot; are extremely problematical and almost every troubleshooting article for USB devices says to plug the device directly into a port on the PC. &nbsp;I've been fixing these things for over 39 years and have seen hundreds of devices that would not work on a hub; but, worked great when plugged in directly. &nbsp;USB devices negotiate their power requirements and needed resources. &nbsp;A hub may, or may not, pass on that negotiation correctly.<br />
Had you said in your question that you were using a hub, the first thing I would have said was to try it without the hub.<br />
BTW, I'm not objecting; just trying to help with your future skillset.......

The device was plugged straight into the PC all the time during troubleshooting, the mobo was faulty by the time &nbsp;I posted here (the hub killed it beforehand) and it wasn't used during troubleshooting, &nbsp;I only started using the hub again after I replaced the motherboard which is why I discovered it then. So it was a bad USB controller on the mobo. Makes sense? Thanks.<br />
