"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

None, because Syslog is at the HOST level, and nothing to do with VMs, and the OS. Unless you want to configure Linux VM and Windows VM to also send events to Syslog server, and this will depend on the Syslog server how do this in Windows. Syslog logging on Linux, depends on the Distro. It's quite a large topic this, and probably best SPLIT, as two Questions, SYSLOG -  Windows, and SYSLOG - Linux.

>Max. host to be used for single syslog server and impact if we use more host for single syslog server ?

Thousands of devices can be used on a Syslog server, only constrained by the resources assigned to Syslog Server, e.g. CPU, Memory and Storage Space.

>any impact on db or vc performance if syslog is not configured correctly ?

none. Syslog just sends a message to Syslog server.

>Can we use any other third party config for syslog ?

Yes, we use Splunk, and so do our clients.

>best config for syslog server to manage almost 60+ esxi host ?

Specially taylored and customised for VMware vSphere

As well as add SNMP (SNMPTRAP) which can be converted to syslog event. windows evntwin converts eventlog event to an SNMPTRAP to destination receiver.
