How to power off monitor from Windows

Is there a way to completely power off a monitor from Windows 7?  I don't simply mean making the screen go black as in power-saving, but an actual replacement for pressing the physical power button on the monitor.

I tried nircmd from this article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-a-shortcut-or-hotkey-to-turn-off-the-monitor/

but the little blue light on the monitor goes to orange (meaning no input), rather than going off.  The problem with this is that if the keyboard or mouse are bumped then the monitor comes back on.

Ideas?

Definitely not. The physical button press cannot be mimiced.
software will Always stay software
it is impossible for it to replace a finger

It's only possible to replace to OFF button (with a LAN based PDU unit, example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Port-IP-Based-Power-Switch-PDU-Controller-Web-Control-RS232-Telnet-Support-/191523008680). The ON button is a different problem, most monitors stay OFF when the power comes back on.
What is your objective?  My monitors go black and use exceedingly little power. I use NIRCMD myself to turn monitors off on demand.

So what are you trying to do?
The only off-the-wall thing I can think of is to use an Arduino, physically solder in some leads and have the Arduino control the off/on.  That way it would still be software controlled with the "finger" being replaced with the kit.

I'm simply trying to turn off the monitor without having it come back on by accident.

For the naysayers, I remind them that the physical button on my pc does not need to be pressed to turn it off.  It's done via software. Physical buttons do NOT always need to be pressed. I'm not trying to turn the monitor on, just off.

I think we have the capability to do such a thing, though the monitors may not have implemented it yet.
Years of discussions between groups like: Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft, Phoenix, and Toshiba have made it possible that software can shut the PC down, just as the power button does. This is quite functional.
The same function has never been deemed a worthy discussion for monitors, and therefore such a software interface has never been invented (probably not worth the extra cost either).
The naysayers already knew about the PC button's behaviour. They also just knew with certainty the same method isn't applied on monitors.
Also, remember, when you turn a computer off, it isn't 100% off.  The only way to really turn a computer off is to remove the power cable.
it's the same with all touch switches - they leave the device in a "standby mode" - not really turning it off
so i'm still with the naysayers - no software turns it off
Yes - no software will turn off a monitor.

Nircmd is very useful and I use it myself to turn a monitor to black
@ugeb - There were NO impolite comments here - just practical, realistic comments. To suggest we were not professional here is simple WRONG.
I'm pretty sure you didn't try my alternative at all. And that's besides the point that you are accepting your own answer on a question where there's no real answer for.

No alternatives other than what I had considered and tried, and not very polite in how their negative message was conveyed to a very innocuous question.
