Password Protecting PDF's
When I add a password to a PDF and try to save the file, I get a message that the file may be open already or Read Only and to save it in a different location...I can't overwrite.
Is this correct? Its an extra step to then select a different folder and I have 500 of them to do
thanks

YES!!
Hi Ron,
I just tested Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and password protected and PDF and saved and it did not prompt me to "save as". It let me save the file as needed.
What version of Adobe Acrobat are you using?

Maybe it is Read-only. Check its attributes.

Joe is referring to the attribute properties if you right click and choose properties. (See attached). This is a good spot to check. But you usually won't see this for something saved to your desktop unless its something you have saved to the internet or unless its saved on a network drive inheriting permissions.
If this attribute is checked. Uncheck it and see if you can save it. I have also see forms from the internet have an extra layer of security so hit unblock as well to be safe.

I answered it myself
Does this happen if you save the PDF locally to your desktop as well and not just on a network drive?
