Bought used cylinder head assembly

I bought used cylinder head driver side with 6 months warranty for no cracks. My question is when i take it to the machine shop what kind of work I will be ask them to do on it? The old one driver side has issues of spitting spark plug. It does it twice and the dealer told me it needs to replace. I just dont know any thing about the cylinder heads. Does it needs just to resurface it and put all the other pieces from the old one into it? What is the average cost of this kind of work at machine shop.

resurface and get the valves re-seated.

And then if you want extra performance (and have money to burn) get it ported and polished :)

Also both side head job was done like 2 years ago but I hardly put few thousand miles on it because of that spark plug popping out issue. Is it ok just to pay for one side head job instead of both?

yes and no.

no:
If it's a high performance car, no. If they're re-surfacing one of the heads then the compression on that side of the motor will be slightly increased.

yes:
Cheaper Daily driver. get them to take the minimum off when they resurface the head.

2000 expedition worth no more than 3 grants. But buying a new truck cost over 30 grants, better i fix it. Shop price average is 1200 "only labor" for each side and 1800 for both. I work at walmart which is 5 miles away from my home.
